Hey hey, so i’ve done two live makeup tutorials in collaboration with just4girls.pk and each have over 300,000 views! which is so crazy to think to be honest. It still hasn’t quite sunk in yet..but i feel the star of each tutorial was the Sunday Riley Martian Mattifying Melting Gel Water Toner.
Its crazy to think so many people don’t know what a primer is/does! I personally loathe people who act dumb just for the heck of it to show and act all high and mighty that they don’t use makeup and people who do are stuck ups. But i genuinely want to help those people who really have no clue about makeup and are eager to learn.
Now that we have that somewhat-of-a-rant out of the way lets clarify what a toner actually is and does;
For starters a toner is meant to tone your skin (obvious, so far) and by that i mean it prepares your face for the next thing you are about to put on it like moisturizer or foundation.
Normally toner is for people who have larger pores and oily skin types, people who struggle to keep makeup on their face without it turning greasy. A toner helps to calm down the pores and evenly tones the skin. I personally like using the mattifying toner in the mornings before applying my foundation.
I feel the SUNDAY RILEY Martian Mattifying Melting Gel Water works very well as a toner and primer, i put this on before using my foundation and it really keeps my face matte for a good amount of time. I have combination to oily skin and foundation always turned greasy on me after a few hours but the water gel toner really prolongs the durability of my makeup. I find that my makeup doesn’t look like a hot mess but by day end instead looks fresh and clean, which i love.
The texture of the SUNDAY RILEY Martian Mattifying Melting Gel Water is like that of a serum but less sticky, its green in color and smells like something familiar but i just can’t put a finger on it!
I love the packaging of the product as well, it looks super luxurious and expensive, and rightly so because this bad boy is expensive, but definitely worth the money i believe especially for someone who has oily, acne prone, sensitive skin.
